LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2019 recognizes banks and financial institutions

Consumers today are looking for convenience, where products and services are expected to be accessed with a simple touch of a button, Chairman, Lanka Clear Anil Amarasekara told the

third LankaPay Technnovation Awards 2019 held in Colombo. Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology, Minister Ajith P. Perera was the chief guest.

The event was conducted under the theme ‘The Clear Touch’ and it was mainly focused on how technology can provide Customer Convenience.

Amarasekara further said increasing number of consumers today are looking for convenience and therefore services are expected by them with a simple touch of a button at anytime and anywhere.

He further said LankaPay Technnovation Awards are recognized by Banks, non- banking and Financial Institutions and FinTech companies that have spearheaded the digital revolution in the country, taking customer convenience to new heights

“As you are aware the consumer today expect the products and services to be made available at just a push of a button,” he said.

Amarasekara further said LankaClear together with JCB International under the guidance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka initiated the National Card Scheme considering it as a long felt need.

He also highlighted that with the commercial roll-out of NCS programme LankaPay/JCB co-badged payment cards are now accepted at ATMs and merchants on JCB network, globally.

“This partnership has also enabled JCB cardholders worldwide to use their cards at ATMs and POS terminals within Sri Lanka, “he said.

Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka Akira Sugiyama said JCB International has been a partner of Lanka Pay Technnovation Awards since its inception in 2017.

He also welcomed the presence of the JCB International Co. Ltd, President and the COO, KimihisaImada and a delegate for the awards presentation ceremony. The Ambassador further said that the ties between Sri Lanka and Japan will be further strengthened with the LankaPay/JCB co-badged payment card.He also said the card will also benefit to develop the trade relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.
