Sri Lanka’s progress in encouraging reading among children impressed the President of the International Publishers Association (IPA) Hugo Setzer, when Vijitha Yapa, President of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association (SLBPA) briefed him and Jose Borghino, Secretary General of the IPA at the AGM of the IPA in Frankfurt last week.
Yapa said tremendous progress has been made in the programme to encourage reading among children and Setzer was amazed to hear that nearly 3 million people had visited the Colombo International Book Fair in September. The IPA President said he looked forward to visiting Sri Lanka next April. The IPA has 81 organisations from 69 countries as members.
