Chrelisa Design Italy (Pvt) Ltd (MHF) a totally Italian Living solution provider is looking at building their luxsury furniture assembly Plant in Sri Lanka.
Chrelisa Design, a fully owned Sri Lankan company set up in Bolzano, Italy, opened at R.A. De Mel Mawatha, Colombo 4 in 2016, showcases a complete array of designer Italian living solutions under one roof.
MHF Director Dhilip Vedamanikkam, said that Chrelisa is closely working with Italian leading suppliers in tiles, tap fittings, bathroom ceramics, doors and handles, chandeliers and furniture for the past decade. “One of the Italian manufactures involved in luxsury doors are keen to set up an assembly plant in Sri Lanka and we hope to commence business early next year as a BOI venture. We hope to invest around 2 Million Euro for the JV project.”
He said that they are looking at setting up the factory close to a port either in Trincomalee, Kankesanthurai or Hambantota. The project would have a 30% local value addition and we are also looking at exports to other region too.” He said that they see new opportunities in the emerging local apartment sector as well as in the hotel sector and have decided to make this investment as it would be cheaper to assemble in Sri Lanka.”
Vedamanikkam said that they opened Chrelisa Design in Bolzano, a decade ago and due to its success and also to fill in the gap in the local market for luxury lifestyle furnishings, we expanded to Sri Lanka. “We are a a total solutions provider for luxury homes, apartments and office spaces, while at Chrelisa Design, we have 15 world-renowned Italian brands including IMOLA, GATTONI, SCARABEO, PASINI, MM LAMPADARI, ARTELUCE, MODANCESE and GASTONE, designed and produced exclusively in Europe. We would add more manufactures to our catalogue next year.” “We are at present, looking at opening our second show room in Nawala soon.”
Amongst the reputed Italian companies introduced is Cooperative Ceramical mola, one of the oldest manufacturers of ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware in the world, with a rich history spanning 156 years. It is also a leading manufacturer of tile producing machinery generating EUR 3,000 million turnover annually.
Area Manager Ceramica Imola, Federico Galassi, who was in Colombo last week, said that Sri Lankans are now looking for quality and they see a big demand for their products. “We also have several new floor tile products where the tile could be polished over and over to get a new look.”
