For the first time in Sri Lanka, an insurance provider has tied up with an e-commerce company; Fairfirst Insurance has partnered with the leading e-commerce giant Daraz.lk, who is also part of the Alibaba eco-system, to become its official Mobile Insurance Partner.
In August this year, Fairfirst became the first insurance company in the country to offer an insurance cover for mobile phones, when it launched Fairfirst Mobile Screen Insurance. The insurance, covers both accidental and liquid damage to the mobile phone screen and comes in 3 attractive coverage plans. In the launch phase of this new partnership, Daraz.lk customers purchasing the new Samsung Galaxy M30s, now have the option of buying the phone online in an exclusive bundle offer or can obtain the Mobile Screen Insurance as an add-on.
“The online shopping penetration in Sri Lanka is ever-growing along-with the growth of digital device usage. Taking this into account, Fairfirst makes sure to always deliver a ‘Digital Specific’ product & sales strategy rather than offering our existing offline products to online consumers. The process entails the design thinking of products catered distinctively to the online consumer – hence the launch of Mobile Screen Insurance. The partnership with the e-commerce giant Daraz.lk, is another bold step towards strengthening an e-commerce led strategy in the insurance industry,” said Sasith Bambaradeniya - Head of Marketing & Digital Solutions.
Daraz is currently present in five South Asian markets that have a combined population of over 460 million.
Speaking about the partnership, Muditha Thebuwane, Chief Commercial Officer at Daraz, said, “We are excited to offer this new value-added option to our customers. Daraz.lk has become a staple in the country for people buying mobile phones and this partnership enables us to really add more value to their purchase beyond just the product’s functionalities. In future, we aim to expand the cover to more phone models and we are sure it is something our customers will appreciate.”
Customers can also purchase the insurance cover directly from the Fairfirst websit.
