JAF Civil Aviation License presented to Minister Ranatunga

Minister of Aviation and Transport, Arjuna Ranatunga receives the Civil Aviation License to Jaffna International Airport being handed over by Civil Aviation Director General H.M.C. Nimalsiri. Airprot Aviation Chairman Dhammika Ranatunge, looks on.

The Civil Aviation License to operate international flights to and from the Jaffna International Airport was handed over by the Civil Aviation Director General H.M.C. Nimalsiri to Minister of Aviation and Transport, Arjuna Ranatunga recently.

The Civil Aviation has also is response to a gazette notification issued by the government, has opened Batticaloa and Ratmalana Airports for regional operations bringing the total number of international airports in Sri Lanka to five with Colombo and Mattala. Airport Identifier codes for these three new airports are Batticaloa Airport (BTC), Jaffna (JAF) and Ratmalana (RML), while location indicator for Batticaloa is VCCB, Jaffna – VCCJ and Ratmalana – VCCC.

Here, The Jaffna International airport which was opened last week with an investment of Rs 2.25 billion out of which Rs 300 million was financed by the Indian government. Alliance Airlines will operate direct flights between Chennai and Jaffna from November 1.
