Estonia’s Digital Guru Ivar Tallo to speak at NITC 2019

Co-founder of Estonian e-Governance Academy Ivar Tallo will be a keynote speaker at the 37th National Information Technology Conference (NITC) organized by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) which will be held from October 8 to 10 at Hotel Shangri-La, Colombo.

Estonia is a country identified as a success story in digital transformation of the government and Ivar Tallo is considered as a key pillar of Digital Estonia, which has been blazing a digital trail for many years and it is amongst the pioneering continues to lead the way in its deployment of cutting edge systems that are delivering a raft of citizen-centric services to its population.

Ivar Tallo is one of the founders and a Member of the Supervisory Board of the e-Governance Academy, an organization set up to create and transfer knowledge and best practices on e-governance, e-democracy, national cybersecurity and open information societies. Ivar Tallo has been a Member of Estonian Parliament and Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

During his keynote address at the NITC 2019 Inauguration, he will spell out how Estonia achieved Digital Government including interesting areas such as iVote, eGovernance, and eTax. In addition, he will compare Sri Lankan situation and some of the quick wins Sri Lanka could achieve. On October 10, Morning at the NITC, Ivar Tallo will deliver a more detailed session covering e-Estonia and implementation experience.

NITC 2019 with the timely theme “Embrace Digital” will be the national platform to deliberate latest developments, trends, challenges of digital era and ICT professionals and practitioners are expected to gather in large numbers at the longest running and undoubtedly the largest ICT event in the country. NITC 2019 has a line-up of more than 40 eminent international and local speakers under the tracks of AI & IOT, Embrace Digital, Digital Media, Digital Safety, Infosec, Software Engineering, Digital Economy, Digital Payments, and Digital Infrastructure.

NITC 2019 also features an annual colloquium track in which more than 25 research papers short listed after a rigorous selection process will be presented by prominent local and international researchers.

Minister of Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology Ajith P Perera will be the Chief Guest of the inauguration of NITC 2019 and Professor Rohan Samarajiva, Chairman of ICTA Sri Lanka will also be one of the keynote speakers at the event.

NITC 2019 will be supported by Ministry of Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology, ICTA, IEEE, IFIP and sponsored by HP, NIBM, Huawei, Mobitel, Cryptogen, and Lankapay.
