A large number of road development projects islandwide has been launched at present.
The ‘Ranmawath Road Development Program’, a concept of the Highways and Road Development Minister Kabir Hashim is in progress covering almost all districts and electorates.
The work on a large number of roads and bridges development projects in Deraniyagala, commenced under the patronage of Minister Kabir Hashim recently.
Development of the Deraniyagala-Nuriya road and construction of new bridges at Urupellauwa–Kahanawita, Dikella, Miyanakolatenna–Delaoluwa, Miyanawita rural bridge Orupeellagama new bridge and Panatura bridge and Arattana bridge and development of the Deraniyagala bus stand are some of these projects.
A total of one billion rupees has been allocated for these projects. In addition A & B grade roads have been developed with assistance from the Asian Development Bank.
