Mahindra and Mahindra to send more electric cars to SL

The leading manufacturer of nearly 600 types of motor vehicles a day, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., of India has announced that the Sri Lankan motor vehicle market would be further strengthened with introducing more electric cars to the local market soon.

Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., Chief of International Operations Arvind Mathew, made these remarks at a meeting held in Mumbai, India, to create awareness on the current development of the Mahindra and Mahindra manufactured electric cars and various other motor vehicles in Sri Lanka.

According to Mahindra and Mahindra, a large number of electric cars manufactured by them are currently sold in Sri Lanka via its agents Ideal Motors and would send more electric cars to Sri Lanka according to their requirements in the future.

Mathew further said that Sri Lanka is a key strategic growth market for all types of Mahindra and Mahindra vehicles including electric cars.

The Mahindra and Mahindra management would also export completed electric Three Wheelers to Sri Lanka, while a decision to assemble Three Wheelers in Sri Lanka has not yet been decided.

He said Sri Lanka and Mahindra has a two decade history and they have carried out a trusted partnership with both Ideal Motors for auto vehicles and DIMO for tractors with other ranges of new products.

“Our Company has a significant presence in the tractor space with a Market Share of over 18% and its portfolio also includes Powerol generators from 7 KVA to 1000 KVA and construction equipment such as Roadmasters G 90 and Earthmasters VX 90.

Mathew further said that Mahindra and Mahindra is one of the leading automotive players in the Sri Lankan market and its main objective is to strengthen the Lankan market with introducing more Mahindra vehicles including currently popular electric cars.
