
Dialog Axiata PLC pledged its support to HelpAge Sri Lanka (HASL) to collect funds for its free cataract surgery program via Star Points.
Dialog Star Points which is worth Rs.1 each are utilized by HelpAge to perform free cataract surgeries to under-privileged elderly citizens at the HelpAge Eye Hospital, Wellawatte.
Accordingly, Dialog subscribers are invited to donate their Star Points during the month of October in commemoration of the International Elders Day which fell on October 01.
Those who wish to donate funds towards this worthy cause may simply dial #141*5*2# and donate any amount of Star Points to HelpAge.
According to HASL Executive Director, Samantha Liyanawaduge, the donations collected via Dialog Star Points would also be utilized to conduct free mobile medical and eye camps, awareness programs for school children and to provide disability equipment to those in need.
He said HelpAge conducts over 15 mobile medical and eye camps island-wide every month to serve beneficiaries with medical and eye screening services.
“HelpAge is grateful for the long standing partnership with Dialog Star Points which was initiated in 2011 and has since donated millions worth Star Points, ” he added.
