The tourism sector experienced a limited number of arrivals in July 2021. Accordingly, tourist arrivals in July 2021 were recorded at 2,429, compared to 1,614 arrivals in June 2021. A total of 19,337 tourist arrivals were recorded during the seven months up to July 2021, compared to 507,311 arrivals in the corresponding period of 2020. The main source countries for tourists in July 2021 were the United Kingdom, Maldives and the United States. Earnings from tourism, which are estimated based on tourist arrivals, amounted to US dollars 3 million in July 2021.
