There are over one hundred and fifty companies that have applied and are in the process of  being certified by SLSI said the Director General and CEO Dr Siddhika Senaratne

Technically called ‘Covid -19 Safety Management System Certification’ an idea mooted by Rotary was carried forward by SLSI and I am pleased to say that practically it has helped CIC FEEDs improve the safety parameters. The certification also gives confidence for us to operate at the optimum efficient practicing the proper protocols of Social distancing, Hand washing and wearing a mask said the Managing Director Ajith Weerasinghe who is also taking over as the Governor of Rotary Sri Lanka and the Maldives from July 2020.

We as a socially responsible company also ensure that the total value chain is protected from the lethal virus he said.

As at today there are 10 million cases world wide of people contracted with Covid-19 virus and around 0.5 million people have lost their lives. With the neighboring countries like India and Pakistan have a influx of cases with Chennai having the 2nd wave, we in Sri Lanka must be responsible to make a delicate balance between protecting people and minimizing the social and economic damage to the country said Dr Rohantha Athukorala the Project Director for the Rotary Stop the Spread project for Rotary.
