Marking the ‘Year of Tolerance’ declared by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2019, United Arab Emirates Ambassador in Sri Lanka Ahmad Ali Al Mualla recently took the initiative to provide Sri Lankans with much needed humanitarian aid and assistance related to the health, education and welfare sectors, covering the different communities in all parts of the country.
The UAE is a country where more than 200 different nationalities live in an atmosphere of openness, mutual respect and coexistence based on the principle of tolerance, while rejecting all kinds of discrimination based on religion, gender, race, colour or language.
The projects implemented by the UAE Ambassador were funded by charity and welfare organisations in the UAE, namely, the Emirates Red Crescent, Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment, Dubai Charity, Sharjah Charity House, Dar Al Ber Society and Sharjah Charity International.
Several individual donors and philanthropists from the UAE also contributed to this noble cause.
