CEB launches ‘Care App’

Rakitha Jayawardena

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has embarked on an ambitious drive to be the best customer care service company in the country in the near future.

As part of this ambitious plan, CEB launched the CEB Care App, at an event held at the BMICH yesterday.

Through this app, close to 6.5 million of CEB customers will be able to make inquiries or provide complaints on electricity-related matters. Also, users can obtain information on paying electricity bills and make complaints regarding electricity breakdowns and many more.

Speaking at the launch of the CEB Care App, CEB Chairman Rakitha Jayawardena cited the CEB Care App as a world class app, developed by its own engineers and the launch of the app as one of the very important aspects of its customer care service segment. Speaking further, Jayawardena added that the CEB is behind the Minister of Power, Energy and Business development Ravi Karunanayake’s vision to achieve the goal of having to establish more base power and transmission lines to provide uninterrupted power supply across the country.

He also urged the CEB staff to work harder at a faster pace in order to realize this vision within a short period of time.

Speaking further he said, the government has recognised the importance of the renewable energy sector in Sri Lanka and is planning on increasing the renewable energy capacity by 500 percent in the coming years.
