Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited (Allianz Lanka), one of Sri Lanka’s leading insurance providers, extended its support to the District General Hospital Negombo with a donation of air conditioning equipment to the hospital’s Blood Bank.
The District General Hospital Negombo is one of the key health care facilities in the Negombo region, serving as the primary healthcare centre for patients in Negombo and the neighbouring suburbs.It also caters to the Bandaranayake International Airport and the Katunayake Free Trade Zone.
The air conditioning units have been installed in the hospital’s Blood Bank which serves over 200 patients and 150 blood donors every week. Air conditioning is essential to helping blood banks maintain the quality of their service. Strengthening the capacity of the Blood Bank, the equipment is set to help the facility deliver greater levels of care and support to its patients and donors.
Gany Subramaniam, Chief Executive Officer, Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited,dedicated the machines to the hospital in the presence of Mangala Bandara, Chief Marketing Officer, Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited; Samantha Gunawardena, Assistant General Manager - Market Management, Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited; and several other representatives from Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited. Dr. Luxshman Edirisinghe, Director, National Blood Transfusion Service; Dr. Nirmala Loganathan, Director, District General Hospital Negombo; Dr. Asha De Alwis, Consultant Transfusion Physician, District General Hospital Negombo; and Dr. Nimesh Pathirane, former Medical Officer In-charge Blood Bank, District General Hospital Negombo were also present on this occasion.

This donation will give a boost to the Blood Bank’s infrastructure and help us offer better care and support to patients and donors,” said Dr. Asha De Alwis, Consultant Transfusion Physician, District General Hospital Negombo.
