HCL, ESOFT launch ‘Skilling Programme’ for A Level and HND students

HCL Technologies (HCL), a global technology company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ESOFT Metro Campus (ESOFT) to place students in Sri Lanka at the forefront of technological innovation. To facilitate this requirement, ESOFT-HCL Skilling Programme, a work-integrated higher education programme was launched to source and attract candidates for exciting career opportunities at HCL Sri Lanka.

The ESOFT-HCL Skilling Programme prepares candidates for entry-level IT jobs in the domain of application development and infrastructure support. Candidates undergo six months of in-class training at ESOFT followed by a six-month apprenticeship at HCL Sri Lanka. The apprenticeship includes live global projects and enrolled students will be paid a stipend every month. The programme provides a combination of classroom training and on-the-job training, making candidates self-reliant at the completion of the programme.

The work-integrated higher education programme economically priced is payable in installments. HCL also has arrangement with financial institutions to assist candidates seeking a loan towards payment of the training fee. To be eligible for the programme, applicants should possess a G.C.E. Ordinary Level pass in Mathematics and G.C.E Advanced Level passes in up to three subjects. Applicants should also be reading for a BTEC HND in Computing from Pearson. Upon completion of the programme, candidates will be allowed to kick-start their careers at HCL with a starting salary of LKR 360,000 per annum.

As part of the agreement, ESOFT will also launch an integrated Higher National Diploma Programme (HCL - HND) by combining ESOFT-HCL Skilling Programme and assured apprenticeship at HCL Sri Lanka. The diploma programme will be available to select candidates at LKR 395,000. HCL will also partially fund the higher education programme for the candidates once they complete training and join HCL as part of their compensation structure.
