‘The COVID-19 pandemic has brought industry 4.0 revolution closer to us,’ says Suranga Herath, CEO of English Tea Shop.
Addressing a webinar organised by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board under the theme ‘Building Globally Competitive Sri Lankan Brands Through Creating Shared Value ‘, Herath said
that the shape and growth of the industry 4.0 is in the hands of the people.
“We can use industry 4.0 for the greater good to reduce inequality, enhance knowledge and to develop communities and the entire value chain. But it’s all in our hands with some sound objectives, that would make our world a better place.”
“Industry 4.0 also enables communities to grow together,” he added.
Tech giants such as Uber, Airbnb, Amazon, eBay, and Linkedin, helped entire communities evolve and all these businesses enabled their members, users, and communities to make big giants from the very beginning.
“Also, most of their businesses are platforms and most of them operate in collaboration across the value chains,” Herath added.
Nothing that industry 4.0 disrupts livelihoods, businesses in almost every sphere of life, he said it’s moving at an exponential pace compared to the linear progression of the previous revolution that mankind has encountered. “It affects every production, management, governance and etc..it is affecting our jobs in every possible way,” Herath said.
