For the first time in Sri Lanka, Abans PLC is using the financial concept ‘Use as a Service’ to promote smart education among Educational Institutions in both public and private sector.
Speaking to the ‘Daily News Finance’, General Manager, Abans PLC. Chathura Jayawardena said that they have introduced this financial concept for purchasing equipment based on the service to encourage mainly the Educational Institutes to promote smart education such that the institutes can sustain through their operational cost.
“We deploy expertise, dedicated sales and service teams with a unique blend of world class brand proposition, We have been investing in this sector for the past several years and the company is highly confident to put more focus into it as we foresee extensive potential in the educational sector,” he said. He also said that they have deployed smart boards to over 1,000 schools in which about 800 are out of Colombo and 200 in prominent schools to facilitate modern learning across the country.
For each and every deployment a teacher training is provided compulsory and on top of that there are several CSR initiatives conducted by the company for the transformation of the modern learning platform which has produced amazing results. The main idea behind this initiative is to build confidence among teachers to use technology for teaching purposes and make the children enthusiastic and interactive in learning.
Abans has been promoting educational focus products for the past ten years, whereas strategic direction to enhance Smart Education footprint was established from late 2016. “There is a huge need for smart education to embrace the future, but due to the belief of high financial expenses on deployment and the reluctance to transform from the traditional teaching methods this is not widely spread in the country,” Jayawardena said.
However because of the three month lockdown of the country due to the COVID 19 outbreak, it has become evident that this transformation is essential when people run out of options to carry out the tasks. Abans believe that facilitating financial solutions along with necessary training to enhance confidence of the teachers would be key strategic instruments which support educational institutes to achieve their transformational objectives.
The smart classroom features the integration and unique computing and assistive learning devices.
Each teacher and student will receive a laptop connected to a wireless access point which enables the teacher to monitor students’ progress on assigned tasks and assist them in their learning process. Students also get the chance to collaborate with each other to work on their assessments and projects.
Which makes learning more interactive between teacher and students. Additional collaboration of various software and learning tools in both local and international platforms would increase the entire learning experience of the students as well as which enable teachers to plan lessons better whilst understating how efficient and effective lessons went almost instantaneously.
Apart from that Abans is also promoting several of their hardware products to make the concept of work from home effective among the public during the period of post lockdown.
