CIPM, Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce sign MoU for academic cooperation

CIPM Sri Lanka, the Nation’s leader in human resource management, came into an understanding with the Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) for academic cooperation to conduct CIPM’s accredited recognized human resource management education courses and corporate training programs at the SCCI’s premises in Ratnapura.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on February 14, at the CIPM Sri Lanka’s head office “HR House” in Colombo 5, by President CIPM Sri Lanka Dhammika Fernando and Director, SCCI and Committee Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa Business School, D. A. Gunaseela. G. Weerathunga, Director, Professional & Academic Affairs, CIPM Business School, U.A.C. Obeysekere, Chief Officer/Director, CIPM Business School, P. G. Tennakoon, Chief Executive Officer, CIPM Sri Lanka, Indika Wijesiriwarden, Senior Manager, Examinations, CIPM Sri Lanka, Kasun Nahallage, CIPM Professional Academic Affairs Committee, CIPM Council Members and W. P. D. D. Kudage, Assistant Manager of the Sabaragamuwa Business School, were present at the occasion.

“We are delighted to enter into this MoU with SCCI, in order to expand our reach to the students and aspiring human resource professionals in the Sabaragamuwa area. Conducting our much popular human resource management courses and corporate training programs at SCCI’s Business School in Ratnapura, would eliminate the need to travel all the way to Colombo, in order to achieve their ambitions and aspirations to be one of the fastest growing and popular management disciplines in the world,” said Dhammika Fernando, President, CIPM Sri Lanka.

Under the terms of the MoU, CIPM’s academic staff would conduct their accredited human resource management courses and corporate training programs at the premises of the SCCI Business School in Ratnapura on a profit sharing basis, in pursuance of the common interests in promoting and developing the principles, techniques and practices of human resource management, to optimize the utilization of human resources at national and international levels.

“The SCCI is pleased to collaborate with CIPM Sri Lanka, which is the leading professional human resource management professional body and business school in Sri Lanka. We are confident that we would be adding a high degree of value to human resource management students and professionals in the Sabaragamuwa area, with this collaboration,” said Director, SCCI and Committee Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa Business School, D. A. Gunaseela.

CIPM was founded in 1959 – incorporated by Parliamentary Act No. 24 of 1976, amended by Act No. 31 of 2018. CIPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resource Management and to the World Federation of People Management Associations. CIPM, being a professional institute, is also a constituent member of the Organization of Professional Associations [OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently, CIPM comprises of over 1,600 Professional Members who serve in both public and private organizations. It was elevated to Chartered status by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on the September 28, 2018, by amending the original Act of establishment.
