In a feat of excellence, LAUGFS clinched three top awards at the BestWeb.lk 2019 competition, which concluded this month. This is the sixth consecutive year LAUGFS has won multiple awards at the BestWeb.lk awards ceremony, which stand testament to its strong focus on promoting innovation, technology and design, and its culture that actively encourages creativity and innovative thinking.
The group Corporate website, www.laugfs.lk, clinched the Gold Awards in the ‘Overall’ and ‘Corporate’ categories whilst also receiving the Bronze award for ‘Best Sinhala Website’. The LAUGFS IT team’s dedication, creativity, and skills in technical management were lauded as the unified driving force behind the triple win.
LAUGFS Group CIO Indika Gunawardena stated, “To receive these awards is certainly an honour. With technology being an unstoppable and ever-changing force that our society depends on, it is a challenge we must take upon ourselves to remain relevant as well as to harness the myriad of opportunities it presents. It is not easy, but with a dedicated and talented team like ours, it is certainly a possibility. Our websites and systems are developed internally, and our in-house Web Development team headed by Manoj Niranjan, consistently does their very best. From winning the Overall Bronze award last year to clinching the Overall Gold award this year, we have been able to push ourselves to set a new benchmark.”
Organised annually by the LK Domain Registry, BestWeb.lk is a competition which recognises Sri Lankan websites under a number of categories.
The Corporate category, in which LAUGFS won the Gold award, consists of large organisations, companies, or corporations with an annual turnover of at least Rs. 100 million, whereas the special ‘Overall’ category represents the crowning award as it pits winners of all other12 categories together, making it a notable achievement for the team.
The team has won over 40 awards in the past five years, including the BCS Chairman’s Award for two consecutive years for producing the most number of innovative products and the overall Gold award at the 2016 SLT ZeroOne Awards for the Best Website/Microsite.
The team also clinched an award at the 2016 Asia Pacific ICT Awards, and was also the recipient of the Gold award in the ‘Corporate Website’ category.
