Hotel Suisse Kandy to add new features

Hotel Suisse Kandy, is adding more luxury to the hotel and is planning to introduce several new features to meet the demands of the modern traveller. Due to the increasing demand for weddings and conferences, the Hotel would introduce sound proofing to their banquet halls. The Grand Ballroom that could accommodate 180 guests, while the Mount Baton hall could cater to functions around 70 guests. In addition, there is also one other banquet hall to accommodate 100 guests, while the hotel also hosts out door gatherings in their large garden area.

Another investment would be made to build a Glass pool deck and a new outdoor return would be introduced. The traditional lift too would give away for a new modern lift, while the Bar and blood room area too would be redeveloped. The total investment would be around Rs. 300 million.

The Administrative Manager, Hotel Suisse Kandy, Madusha Bunke, said that the hotel is offering several promotions, including 50% off on all credit cards.

“In addition for couples who were married at Suisse, we offer them a complementary dinner for their first anniversary, while repeater guests receive an upgrade.”

The hotel, a property of Ceylon Hotels Corporation which is managed by the Galle Face Hotel Group, has 47 superior, 28 deluxe, 11 super deluxe rooms and four suites, totaling up to 90. The main market for the hotel is from the high end UK, Europe, Australian and Indians.

She said that the colonial history of the hotel, new modern four star facilities and the scenic location opposite Kandy Lake on four acres, are the main attractions of the hotel.

A Lounge Bar and a traditional Sri Lankan Restaurant, an Ayurvedic Centre, Sauna, Kids Playground, Pool Table, Darts, Coffee Shop, Car Rental, Beauty Salon, Shopping and Travel Counter, free Wi-Fi, are some of the other facilities offered by the hotel.

The hotel has also hosted VIPs and Heads of State, such as the Crown Prince of Japan, the King and Queen of Nepal, the Queen of England and Prince Phillip, Margaret Thatcher and Denise Thatcher and Zia Ul Haq of Pakistan.

Hotel Suisse has been the selected choice of many leading International Film personalities such as Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy of “ET,” John and Bo Derek of “Blue Water,” Film Producer Raju Patel along with his cast and crew of “Jungle Book II” and Geraldine Chaplin, daughter of comedian Charlie Chaplin.
