Government ever ready to assist construction industry - President

President Maithripala Sirisena, Minister of Megapolis & Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka and former Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera at the opening of the “Construct Exhibition 2019” Exhibition.

Construction work in the country should give heed to the country’s environment and culture, said President Maithripala Sirisena, at the inaugural ceremony of the “Construct Exhibition 2019,” concluded at the BMICH yesterday.

The President also highlighted the importance of paying attention to environmental changes and impacts and global economic trends too. “During the recent past, people had neglected the magnitude of the effect that the development and construction field had on the preservation of the environment.”

He also added that currently there is a growing necessity for sustainabality in the country.

The President said that when construction is being undertaken, proper attention should be paid to efficient power consumption, management of raw material and resources, protecting the environment of the construction site, water management and social and cultural suitability.

He said the government was ready to render any sort of assistance to the construction sector’s development.

NCASL Chairman Susantha Liyanaarachchi said that, “Construct Exhibition 2019,” is the largest construction sector exhibition of the country and it was a tremendous achievement to successfully complete it for 19 years.
