There had been a slowdown in vehicle registrations across all categories in December 2018, according to J. B. Securities monthly review of the industry.
The report attributes this as a result of measures taken by the Central Bank and the Treasury to curb vehicle imports, suspension of permits, leasing margins and adjustments to LTV ratio on hybrids. The total number of vehicle imports in December were 30,327 units, while it was 31,358 and October 44,036 units, in November and October respectively.
Motor Car registrations in December were 2,669, while reports showed an increase in November (3,354) and October (5,826).
