Sri Lanka’s first herbal hydrotherapy wellness Centre, Jeevana Ganthera, opened at Makola North Kelaniya last Sunday.
Founder Chairman, Amesh L. Seneviratne said that he was involved in the advertising and pre-fabricated swimming pool business for over 20 years and due to unethical practices in the industry decided to diversify to the wellness area.
“I wanted to create something unique to Sri Lanka and with Jeevana Ganthera, I have achieved that. Unlike in traditional Ayurveda or in spa treatment we don’t have any oils or therapists and we use high pressure water for all treatment and the human intervention is less than 5%.”
He said that they follow the basis theory of ancient Ayurveda and healing principals and uses high pressured hydrotherapy for all their treatment. “We have imported high pressure water taps and equipment from Europe and have modified them to use at our hydrotherapy wellness Centre, Jeevana Ganthera.”
“My fascination over healing and wellbeing by balancing the elements of our body led me to develop this hydrotherapy technology based on the core principals of Ayurveda. This system was inspired by the 9th century medical trough (locally known as the ‘Beheth Oruwa’) which I have re-created at Jeevana Ganthera using high pressure water jets.”
He said that they would be marketing Jeevana Ganthera among corporate and also among tourists through travel agents and their web.“I am planning to create a chain of hydrotherapy wellness Centers in four popular tourist destinations in Sri Lanka in the next 18 months.”
In addition the Centre also provides health and nutrition consultations, beauty care yoga and other wellness water based related treatment. “Our Ayurveda experts will assess the status of your health and body constitution to provide you with nutrition and food intake recommendations”.
Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute and University of Kelaniya, the Chief Medical Officer in Jeewana Ganthera Dr. Chamil Karunarathna said that the treatments they provide and medicines that are used are all organic and designed to promote natural healing.
“Our modern re-imagination of the Beheth Oru, utilises water pressure and compressed air channeled through 22 jets which target 22 pressure points on the human body.”
The government Agent, Gampaha, Sunil Jayalath and Chairman Ogilvy Group, Irwin Weerakody also launched the www.jeevanaganthera.com website on Sunday.
