Hatch, a co-working space in the heart of Colombo 01 is launched for space trawling entrepreneurs to start, operate and continue their dream of entrepreneurship.

With prioritizing the objective of developing and sustaining the local entrepreneurship ecosystem in mind, Co-founders of this project, Jeevan Gnanam and Nathan Sivagananathan, boast about a 60,000 sq. feet facility that will house over 1,000 people, meeting rooms, auditoriums, event space, cafeterias, coffee shops, breakout areas, fully functioning reprographics, video audio facilities, fabrication labs and even nap rooms.

Going in line with the country’s vision to sustain entrepreneurism, and SMEs as the backbone of the economy, which accounts to more than 75 percent of total enterprise, Hatch will facilitate budding entrepreneurs not only by providing a space but also introducing a community that fosters collaboration, promotes innovation and facilitates progress for all its members.

One of the co-founders of Hatch, Nathan Sivagananathan, speaking to Daily News Business said, “It is very rare to find a learning environment especially dedicated for entrepreneurs under one roof in Sri Lanka. We have been able to create such ecosystem with this initiative and it will not only benefit them but also the country as it is yearning to increase the export revenue by billion dollars. Above all, this co-working place provides an opportunity to benefit from the global funding mechanism and share resources such as professional expertise under one roof.”

Hatch will work with local universities, established home-grown and international corporations, business leaders and industry experts to provide entrepreneurs with ideas to sustain successful businesses. In order to satisfy the industry needs, early stage investments offerings, industry specific accelerator programs, networking opportunities for business development through curated community events, logistical support in marketing and PR, IT and reprographics and local and global mentoring partnerships and workshops will be facilitated by Hatch.

In addition to its newly opened space in Colombo, Hatch also maintains a presence in Jaffna with Hatch Kalam, the first maker and co-worker space in the north and will continue to open locations, both locally and regionally.
