The Primary Industries Ministry has introduced a new program to provide matching grants to export oriented businesses to address difficulties faced by prospective entrepreneurs when seeking finance for start-ups, Minister Daya Gamage said.
He was speaking at the Second International Ornamental Fish, Trade and Technical Conference held in Colombo recently
He said, “For an instance, for 10 million project, the investor needs to have only one million of the required capital while the Ministry will provide five million to start the business. “The Ministry will also facilitate bank financing for the remaining four million.” He further added that in an effort to address the lack of market access facilities for the Sri Lankan fish exporters , the primary industries Ministry this year will also organize a Sri Lankan pavilion at well known ‘Aquarama’ international ornamental and aquarium exhibition in addition of facilitating exhibitors’ visas for other related procedures.
