Vidullanka joins Surakimu Ganga programme

Given the heavy waste flow in the Baduluoya River (The River which runs into the Dunhinda falls) and the introduction of the “Surakimu Ganga” National Program on Conservation of Rivers in Sri Lanka, Vidullanka PLC Ridheepana Mini-Hydro Power Plant initiated a river cleaning process under the waste-management initiative “WE MANAGE” (WM).

The official launch of this program will be held on April 21 in Badulla.

“WM is a green initiative program commenced by Vidullanka PLC to manage waste at all the Mini-hydro Power Plants of Vidullanka PLC. WM’s main objective is to collect all the waste comes through the rivers at each power plant and then recycle them in a meaningful and productive manner, so that we support to clean the water, manage the waste, reduce landfill issue and also run the power plants at its optimum capacity,” said Director – Operations, Vidullanka PLC, Roshan Siriwardana.

Further, our aim of this project is to add job opportunities, educate people, create awareness and promote the urgent need to protect the river for future generations. Vidullanka PLC has initiated the same in each Power plant and expects to expand the process effectively. To carry out the process efficiently, we have implemented several innovative solutions and processes as well.

Vidullanka PLC is a hydropower company and produces electrical energy and transmits it to feed the national grid.
