Head of the Government Medical Officers Association and a member of the Professional’s National Front (PNF) Anuruddha Padeniya called for the timely abolishment of the Provincial Councils.
Padeniya challenged anyone thinking otherwise to illustrate their views to the Professionals National Front. Padeniya called on the general public to realise that the country was operating well without the functioning of a single Provincial Council. Padeniya was speaking yesterday at the Organisation of Professional Associations at an event that looked to create awareness on the proposed changes to laws governing the co-operative sector. Padeniya recalled how politicians of the standing of Phillip Gunawardena and N M Perera used to champion the cause of the co-operative sector.
He noted that in contemporary politics there was no one either in the government or opposition that championed the cause of the co-operative sector.
