Israeli-Lankan flights on the radar

Sri Lanka and Israel have agreed to launch direct air services between Israel and Sri Lanka. This is on a directive from Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunge. It is expected that between 2,000-5,000 Israeli tourists will visit Sri Lanka during the May to September season.

Russia’s Aeroflot, Air Arabia, FlyDubai, India’s Vistara and Jazeera Airlines are also discussing potential launches of direct air services to Sri Lanka. Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak (2019-2020) 25 airlines operated direct flights to Sri Lanka. The Airports Aviation Authority has opened both international airports in Colombo and Mattala for international traffic.
