The average number of tourists per day has increased to 2,000 in June so far with comparison to the average of 1,300 tourists per day in May, said Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), Kishu Gomes.
In May there had been a decline of 70.8 % of tourist arrivals but with all the steps we are taking to revive the industry, we will be able to reach the desired level.
“If we are able to end the year 20% less than last year we have all the reasons to be happy,” he said.
Countries such as Belgium, China, India, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Netherland, Switzerland and Denmark have already revised their travel adversaries and some countries have given out updates indicating that they are about to lift their travel adversaries.
He also said that with reference to the promotional campaigns, Sri Lanka is going to participate in 25 travel exhibitions, 18 more road shows and nine consumer engagement campaigns.
The countries that are not covered through the above promotional campaigns are considered separately and SLTPB is expecting to carry out campaigns to promote Sri Lankan tourism in those countries separately.
Furthermore, Gomes said that they have invested Rs 415 million on the global PR agency and Rs.500 million on the advertising campaign.
