Bourse witnesses profit closure of trading session

Colombo bourse started with a gradual upward trend and witnessed profit taking at the closure of the trading session.

Mixed investor interest was centered on selective counters recording a daily turnover over Rs.6 bn. Thus, the All Share Price Index declined by 157.6 points (-1.4%) to close at 11,252.3 whilst S&P SL20 Index gained by 7.2 points (+0.2%) to close at 3,912.9. Commercial Leasing & Finance, LOLC Development Finance, LOLC Finance, LOLC Holdings and Expolanka Holdings and remained as the top negative contributors to the ASPI during the day.

Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs.6, 479.3 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs.4,582.3 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 252,365.8k against the 12-month average daily volume of 232,286.9k. Capital Goods, Materials, Transportation, Diversified Financials and Food and Beverage sectors mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.

The top turnover generators for yesterday were Browns Investments Rs. 1,216.1 mn (+2.9%), Expolanka Holdings Rs. 825.3 mn (-0.4%), Commercial Leasing & Finance Rs. 754.7 mn (-17.8%), Vallibel One Rs. 520.4 mn (+5.6%) and LOLC Finance Rs.285.6 mn (-3.0%). Foreigners recorded an inflow of Rs. 150.2 mn during the day.

Foreign purchases stood at Rs.175.2 mn.
