The tourism industry which was badly affected in the East due to COVID 19 pandemic is marching forward. Arugam Bay in the Pottuvil Division in the Ampara District is a health resort famous for surfing attracting tourists from all over the world.
Chamber of Tourism and Industry President A.M.Jawfer said that a group of foreign tourists had flown from Colombo to Arugam Bay signaling tourist arrival. The tourist industry in the East was badly affected due to Easter Sunday bomb blasts and the COVID 19 pandemic.
Tourist arrival is expected to increase in the coming weeks, Chamber of Tourism and Industry President A.M.Jawfer said. The beach isn’t the only attraction in the area. The countryside of the village of Arugam Bay brings about loveliest sceneries that span from mangrove, jungle, lagoon, river,rice fields and dunes. Thousands of local and foreign tourists frequent Arugam Bay to enjoy the natural beauty.
