Thinnai Group of Hotels, in Jaffna a member of the St Antony’s Group, will launch a mega education drive to woo youth to the hospitality industry.
“An initiative by the Gangnam Education Trust, we hope to commence this program from December 5, and hope to provide hospitality education to 60 youth in the area. This will be done totally FREE of charge,” said Thinnai, General Manager Janitha Madawala. He said that the sixty youth would also be give an on the job training at their two hotels, The Thinnai Hotel Palaly Road, Thirunelveli, Jaffna the region’s largest and only all-suite luxury boutique hotel and ‘Thinnai Organic’ the group’s agritourist hotel set on ten acres of organic farm.
“We will pick 20 youths each to undergo training in Food and Beverage, Front office and Housekeeping departments. We also encourage girls to join this program.”
The course duration would be around four months and at the end of it successful students would receive a NVQ 1 level certificate which will be accepted for employment in the hotel sector.”
The group owned and operated by Thinnai Group of Hotels, a member of the St. Antony’s Group, is also investing on a second property in Jaffna students could also seek employment in them or elsewhere where there is a huge demand for hospitality jobs.
