No habitation will be allowed within environs of Muthurajawela Forest Reserve

The President has given instructions to protect the Muthurajawela Forest Reserve by identifying the people living within the reserve and removing them, through the Extraordinary Gazette Notification issued in this regard, State Minister of Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure Nimal Lanza said.

A discussion on resolving the problems regarding the relevant Gazette Notification was held in Colombo on Tuesday with the participation of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, Wildlife and Forest Conservation Minister C.B. Ratnayake and State Minister of Urban Development, Coast Conservation, Waste Disposal and Public Sanitation Nalaka Godahewa.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has given instructions to relevant sectors to make arrangements to protect the Muthurajawela Forest Reserve so that there are no impediments to people residing in the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Wattala, Ja-Ela, Katana and Negombo, as a result of the new Extraordinary Gazette Notification issued in connection with the Muthurajawela Forest Reserve.

State Minister Lanza also said that religious leaders as well as the people in those areas need not have any unnecessary fear.
