Colombo bourse turnover records over Rs.10 bn

Colombo bourse remained in the green territory recording a healthy turnover over Rs.10 bn with local investor appetite in selected stocks. Thus, the All Share Price Index increased by 16.6 points (+0.2%) to close at 11,024.9 whilst S&P SL20 Index also gained 45.8 points (+1.3%) to close at 3,652.7.

Expolanka Holdings, Royal Ceramics, Vallibel One, Hayleys and Lanka Walltile remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 10,254.7 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 4,304.4 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 384,560.3k against the 12-month average daily volume of 222,096.3k. Capital Goods, Diversified Financials, Transportation and Food and Beverage sectors mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.

The top turnover generators for yesterday were LOLC Finance Rs. 3,493.3 mn (0.0%), Sunshine Holdings Rs. 1,712.1 mn (+8.9%), Expolanka Holdings Rs. 1,556.7 mn (+5.5%), Browns Investments Rs. 363.0 mn (-0.9%), and LOLC Holdings Rs. 275.6 mn (-0.8%). Foreigners recorded an outflow of Rs. 768.9 mn during the day. Foreign purchases stood at Rs. 170.5 mn which were approximately witnessed in Hayleys MGT, Aitken Spence, Hatton National Bank, Amana Bank and Central Finance whilst total foreign sales amounted to Rs. 939.2 mn, assumed to be seen Sunshine Holdings, Colombo Fortland, LOLC Finance, Expolanka Holdings and Browns Investments. Further, there was off-board transaction in Sunshine Holdings (Rs.767.7 mn) yesterday.

Additionally, SMB Leasing (Non-Voting), Industrial Asphalts, Muller & Phipps, Tess Agro (Non-Voting) and Blue Diamond were the top price gainers yesterday whilst Nation Lanka Finance, Hapugastenne Plantations, Selingsing, Orient Finance and Commercial Leasing & Finance were the top price losers.

Further, LOLC Finance, Browns Investments, Softlogic Capital, Sunshine Holdings and Shaw Wallace Investments were amongst the most actively traded stocks yesterday. Further, Commercial Development announced a first interim dividend of Rs.2.50 for financial year 2021.
