Five-year plan to develop tourism

Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and other senior tourism officials in Ukraine.

Sri Lanka has launched a five-year plan to develop the tourism sector, said Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga addressing over 150 travel agents/operators and other stakeholders at Ukraine Hilton hotel.

This program has already started and one key factor in this is the vaccination of local tourism employees and people engaged in the industry and several other measures have also been put in place.

He said that Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan were the first tourists to visit Sri Lanka with over 2,258 arrivals and only 9 were tested positive, treated and sent back.

Deputy Foreign Minister Taharaka Balasuriya, Chairperson Sri Lanka Tourism, Kimarli Fernando along with Airport Aviation Services, Vice President Sujeeva Rajapaksa and senior officials from the Ministry participated.
