Opex Holding (Pvt) Ltd, an Agri-input company in Sri Lanka has donated more than Rs. 1.5 million rupees to assist the farmer community, in areas such as Sooriyawewa, Weeraketiya and Ingiriya, recently.

The donation was made to the Chief Incumbent of the Gangarama Temple Assaji Thera by Romesh Tissainayagam Manager Human Resources and Administration and Charith Senanayake, Deputy General Manager Sales Opex Holding.

Accepting the donation Chief Incumbent of the Gangarama Temple Assaji Thera said, “We are extremely grateful to Opex Holdings for coming forward during these difficult times to assist our farming community in Sri Lanka. Our country has a proud history in agriculture but sadly our farmers are in dire straits due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A drop in imports means there is less fertilizer available and farmers do not have funds to purchase fertilizer. At a time like this it is indeed a blessing for a local company to come forward to make a donation of this nature.” Managing Director Onesh Subasinghe stated, “Opex Holdings has for more than 50 years has been assisting Sri Lanka’s agriculture industry.

As the first homegrown company to manufacture liquid fertilizers for both Sri Lanka and India, we felt that there is a need to assist our farmers at this time of need. Sri Lanka has the potential and ability to be self-sufficient and at a time when food safety and global demand for food, we are committed to assist the Sri Lankan Government as well”. Opex manufactures and markets a range of liquid fertilizers and other agri-products which could be used for various types of crops.
