
Wurth Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the German based automotive after-market products company which started its operations 20 years ago with a single employee celebrated its 20th year of successful operations in Sri Lanka a few days ago.
Since its inception, Wurth Lanka has grown to 120 employees with its own state of the art office and stores complex in Makumbura in Pannipitiya, 3 divisions supporting 3,500 product lines, 4 pick-up shops in Nugegoda, Pannipitiya, Negombo and Kurunegala, a distributed network of partners and dealers, and most importantly a large, active and loyal customer base of over 5,500.

“Our main focus remains to ensure that customer needs are understood and met in a timely fashion. In order to achieve this goal, two-thirds of the employee-base comprises of Sales and Marketing staff” he added.
The first product umbrella to be introduced in the year 2000 was the Automotive products division. Ten years later, the Construction division was added to the portfolio. The latest product line to be added to the Company was the Metal Maintenance division in 2015.
Wurth Lanka prides itself on it’s innovative thinking and introducing a new or improved product finely tuned to the conditions of the country and the market every year.
Wurth Lanka’s parent company, Wurth GmbH is a German family-owned company that was established in 1945 by Adolf Wurth, across a multitude of product categories including automotive, industrial, construction, metal maintenance and machinery to name a few.
His son Prof. Rheinhold Wurth took over the business along with his mother, at the age of 19 and leads from the front, being very active with the sales force. Professor Wurth has visited the Sri Lankan operation twice.
In 2006 Prof. Rheinhold Wurth handed over the Chairmanship of the company to his daughter Bettina Wurth who has also visited the Sri Lankan operation. Wurth is a third-generation family company.
