The Indian Government has granted Rs. 250 million to set up an Innovation Centre in Jaffna, to assist the SME and start up in the Northern Province, Minister of Industrial Exports and Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Prasanna Ranatunge said.
He said the Cabinet has approved this proposal and had decided to allocate space from the new Jaffna Cultural Centre to house this proposed innovation centre.
Both the Government of India and Sri Lanka, would also woo ICT based companies to set up offices in this premises so that the youth could gain employment and also technical knowledge. “We hope to set up over 400 SME and start up work stations at this Cultural Centre,” the Minister said.
