GroupM’s Chief Strategist to represent Effies Asia Pacific as Jury member

Being chosen as a jury member of the marketing effectiveness forum ‘Effie’s APAC Awards 2020’, Bakmee Perera Director, Strategy of GroupM Sri Lanka has received the recognition of representing a forum consisting of an elite group of global marketers.

Bakmee is the only Jury member to represent the panel from Sri Lanka in 2020. She returns as a Jury member to Effies APAC forum in 2020, her first stint being in 2018.

The Effie’s stands for effectiveness in marketing, spotlighting marketing ideas that work and encouraging thoughtful dialogue about the drivers of marketing effectiveness worldwide.

The Effie Awards are known by advertisers and agencies globally as the pre-eminent award in the industry and recognize any and all forms of marketing that contribute to a brand’s success.The Effie Awards were launched in 1968 by the New York American Marketing Association as an awards program to honour the most effective advertising efforts.

Bakmee Perera leads the data, insights, and media strategy efforts at GroupM, the market leader in media investment consolidation in Sri Lanka and globally. She has over 12+ years of experience in advertising &media, and has worked across a multifaceted brand portfolio.Prior to her current assignment, she served as the Head of Team Unilever, Director Client Leadership. And possess 7+ years of experience handing the communications strategy planning of the total portfolio of Unilever Sri Lanka, the country’s largest dedicated media unit (agency on record - AOR). A strong believer of media centric ideations, she has been able to bring-in many awards through home grown ideas that were creatively powerful and delivered brand results. Many of her media led concepts have won accolades across local and regional platforms - including Effie’s.
