‘The new government will provide an opportunity for all students who pass the GCE/ AL for higher education under the new initiatives taken by the government,’ said Anura Dissanayake, Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Technology & Innovation.
He was the Chief Guest at the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AAT) student’s a felicitation ceremony to recognize them and awarded by prizes.
“Around 150, 000 students pass out A/L each year and only 32, 000 make it to the university. In addition another 23, 000 are going overseas for education and a further 30, 000 get involved in various vocational training positions and also in other fields like Tourism.”
He said that hence the government has to find only around 60,000 placements in the higher education sector. “This can be reached by having more universities and Vocational Training centers and the new government is working towards reaching this target.”
Meanwhile AAT also announced that in the year 2019, out of the highest ranked 100 students at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Commerce stream 55 were students of AAT which was a unique achievement.
“Also there are 12 students who became as the district first in new and old syllabus and four students were ranked in first top ten. We are happy to mention that all of these students started AAT soon after their O/Levels,” said President of AAT Sri Lanka, Magdon Ismail.
AAT provided students with valuable guidance and helped them to reach the top in their A/levels. AAT helps students by covering the entire A/L syllabus and providing them with both theoretical and practical knowledge by utilizing specialized methods. Nationally and internationally, AAT Sri Lanka is the world’s second accounting education institute to acquire full membership of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Students who start AAT soon after their A/levels have the special benefit of becoming qualified accountants before they complete their A/Ls.
AAT helps them shine by enabling them to have world-recognized job opportunities and also to rank high in their A/level exams. Another special benefit of following AAT while also doing your A/levels is that you stand to become a double-qualified individual.
AAT has paved the path for its students to broaden their horizons by providing job opportunities as professional accountants; this has been proven by all the high achieving AAT students. They have also proven that AAT does not add to the burden of the A/levels, but rather helps one excel at it.
The specialty in AAT is that in addition to providing a certificate that is internationally recognized, it also increases international and local job prospects. If you too wish to progress as these 55 high scoring 2019 Advanced Level Commerce students, join the AAT program today.
