Sri Lanka’s most prestigious Educational Exhibition and the Job Fair, EDEX Expo 2020 will be ceremonially open by Higher Education and Career Choices Minister Bandula Gunawardana at BMICH tomorrow (January 17) , commencing at 10 am.
Royal College Principal B.A. Abeyratna will also attend the three-day exhibition which ends on Sunday. The EDEX Expo is conducted by Royal College Union.
Over 25,000 visitor including students from public , private and International schools and from universities are expected at this exhibition.
EDEX,Chairman Mahinda Galagedera highlighted the conducting of local and foreign educational courses by educational institutions at the exhibition and said present day schoolchildren, school leavers, job seekers and university students should receive academic, vocational, technical, professional and postgraduate courses for their future prospects.
The EDEX Chairman further said three exhibitions are held in Colombo and Kandy every year and the objective of holding these exhibitions are to create the awareness of Sri Lankan youth about existing educational courses and thereafter how to find employment opportunities here as well as abroad.
He said all educational institutions which tie up with the EDEX organizing committee have agreed to arrange discounted course fees full or partial scholarships and also financial support options for needy students.
This year’s event will feature over 200 education exhibition booths occupied by local and foreign universities and institutions from leading countries such as Japan, France, India, Australia and Pakistan. In addition educational representatives will come from leading universities in UK, Russia, Canada and Switzerland.
The programme is endorsed by several state institutions including the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The second leg of the exhibition and job fair will be conducted on January 24 and 25 at KCC in Kandy.
