Bourse returns to ‘Green’ territory

Despite the three consecutive days of index drops, the Colombo bourse witnessed a change in gears and returned to the green territory yesterday amidst price gains in certain large ticket stocks.

TheAll Share Price Index thusincreasedby17.9 points (+0.2%) to close at 7,746.6 yesterday while the S&P SL20 Index also gained by 14.6 points (+0.5%) to close the day at 2,970.8. Moreover, LOLC Holdings, Browns Investments, Kotmale Holdings, Nestle Lanka and Hayleys remained as the top positive contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at LKR 1,777.8 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of LKR 3,113.7 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 53,021.6 against the 12-month average daily volume of 173,531.7.

Banking, Diversified Financials, Capital Goods and Food and Beveragewere the main sectors that contributed to the daily turnover. The top traded counters for yesterday were LB Finance LKR 500.5 mn,Hatton National Bank (Non-Voting) LKR 155.6 mn, LOLC Holdings LKR 155.1 mn, Hatton National Bank LKR 87.7 mn and Sampath Bank LKR 84.9 mn. Foreigners were net sellers yesterday recording an outflow of LKR 406.4 mn during the day.
