Bourse marginally decreases – Acuity Stockbrokers

The Bourse ended the week on a negative note this week with ASPI decreasing by 62.59 points (or 0.80%) to close at 7,746.56 points, while the S&P SL20 Index also decreased by 71.88 points (or 2.36%) to close at 2,970.75 points.

Turnover & Market Capitalization

L O L C Holdings was the highest contributor to the week’s turnover value, contributing LKR 1.58Bn or 18.00% of the total turnover value. LB Finance followed suit, accounting for 7.14% of turnover (value of LKR 0.63Bn) while HNB[Non-Voting] contributed LKR 0.46Bn to account for 5.28% of the week’s turnover. Total turnover value amounted to LKR 8.78 Bn (cf. last week’s value of LKR 6.66 Bn), while the daily average turnover value amounted to LKR 1.76Bn (5.55% W-o-W) compared to last week’s average of LKR 1.66Bn. Market capitalization meanwhile, decreased by 0.80% W-o-W (or LKR 27.71 Bn) to LKR 3,429.86 Bn cf. LKR 3,457.57 Bn last week.

Liquidity (Value & Volume)

Diversified Financials Industry Group was the highest contributor to the week’s total turnover value, accounting for 29.99% (or LKR 2.63Bn) of market turnover. Industry Group’s turnover was driven primarily by L O L C Holdings and LB Finance accounted for 83.79% of the sector’s total turnover. Banks Industry Group meanwhile accounted for 17.52% of the total turnover value while Capital Goods Industry Group contributed 13.77% to the weekly turnover.

The Food Beverage & Tobacco Industry Group dominated the market in terms of share volume, accounting for 29.86% (or 97.14 Mn shares) of total volume, with a value contribution of LKR 0.86Bn. The Diversified Financials Industry Group followed suit, adding 20.04% to total volume (65.18 Mn shares) while Materials Industry Group contributed 11.56% (37.59 Mn shares) to the weekly share volume.

Total foreign purchases decreased by 60.30% W-o-W to LKR 0.21Bn from last week’s value of LKR 0.53Bn, while total foreign sales amounted to LKR 0.75Bn relative to LKR 0.79Bn recorded last week (-4.9% W-o-W).
