Browns Hospitals was recognised for the second consecutive year for its exceptional commitment in healthcare sector at the recently concluded National Business Excellence Awards 2019.
Accordingly, Browns Hospitals emerged runners-up under the Healthcare Related Service Sector category as well as second runners-up under the Medium category at the 16th Edition of National Business Excellence Awards, hosted by the National Chamber of Commerce.
The awards were accepted by Charitha Jayasingha, Chief Operating Officer, Browns Hospitals, in the presence of a large gathering of business leaders and diplomatic missions. Her Excellency Robina P. Marks, High Commissioner for South Africa in Sri Lanka, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The National Business Excellence Awards is held annually with the intention of recognising the business enterprises that display business excellence.

The National Business Excellence Awards recognises corporates who have excelled in business operations during the year under consideration. The contenders for the Business Excellence Awards were evaluated by a panel of judges over the preceding months and was judged on a newly structured excellence evaluation model. It comprised seven criteria; namely, excellence in business and financial results, performance management, capacity building, local and global market reach, leadership, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability. Moreover, their performance was also assessed on the basis of a three-stage process of Desk Reviews, Interviews and Judge’s Final Review.
