Sri Lanka Print 2020 Exhibition in March

Principal Sponsor of the launch SLAP 2020, Francis Chua, Head Regional sales Division of Konica Minolta, hands over the sponsorship to Dilan Silva, president, Sri Lanka association of printers

Sri Lanka Association of Printers (SLAP) will be organizing the Sri Lanka Print 2020 Exhibition and the National Print Conference from March 12 to 15 at BMICH.

“The growth in the amount of packaging that we use in our daily lives has had an impact on the amount of waste that is generated and this only increases the carbon footprint by the day. Waste that cannot be reused or recycled ends up in landfills where it is left to rot for many years or, in some instances, the packaging is made from materials that will never decompose,” said President SLAP and Managing Director, Lakfoil, Dilan Silva.

“Our experience supports the perception that a high degree of interest exists among senior leadership and organizational members charged with advocating for sustainability. In this light, our goal is simply to promote sustainability.”

In almost any office around the world, day to day printing is the main environmental impact, second to electricity usage. At the same time, it is one of the easiest impacts to tackle. Solving this issue will deliver immediate environmental benefits, alongside being economical.”

“We are currently facing low income from exports and low demands in a saturated market. Printers are also facing challenges that have never been experienced before. Therefore we see tremendous opportunity to generate income to Sri Lanka through expanding exports. In that light printers can be the catalysts of creating exports.”

“We see an immense opportunity for Printers as well as the economy in the country where Sri Lanka’s strategic location is concerned. Without exports, printing companies will not survive in our region.”

It is also estimated that by 2050, 60% of the world GDP will be generated in Asia, and that by 2025 365B worth of printing market to exist in this region.

“Sri Lanka’s strategic location taken into account as a printing hub, using all the technology and knowledge to expand the scope of products and services that SL can offer to the regions, to successfully create and facilitate a synchronized assembling , product finishing , to other related packaging to the entire region.”

“As catalysts in the industry we can promote and facilitate products from many destinations of different countries and we have the opportunity to put them in SL for re-export. By opening up the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Colombo ports we enable SL to export larger volumes with shorter shipping times . This in return also creates ample space where SL can also support transshipment as a logistics hub, where we will be including a value addition to logistics in this industry,” said Strategist, Director/Co-founder – SOFTAES, Dammikka Sriwardhana.
