Colombo equities demonstrates negative investor sentiments

Colombo equities demonstrated negative investor sentiment yesday. TheBenchmark Index, ASPI closed the day at 6,202.83 points, losing 13.73 points or -0.2%. This was mainly due to price losses in counters such as CTC.N (LKR800.20, -1.89%), JKH.N (LKR143.30, -0.90%), CINS.N (LKR1,249.20,-6.50%), HHL.N (LKR98.10, -0.91%) & COCR.N (LKR57,-2.73%). The Blue Chip Index S&P SL20 also declined by 5.19 points or -0.1% to close at 3,477.02.

Foreigners took the position of net sellers for the day, recording a net foreign outflow of LKR 10mn for the day.SEYB.N recorded the highest turnover for the day of LKR28.12mn, followed byJKH.N (LKR19.33mn) and MGT.N (LKR18.47mn). The day saw turnover decrease by 10.9% to LKR 111mn compared to the last trading day.Bank Finance and Insurance Sector managed to record the highest turnover of LKR45.24mn for the day, followed by the Diversified Holdings Sector andFootwear and Textile Sector with daily turnovers of LKR22.61mn and LKR18.52mn respectively.

Year to date ASPI Performance stood at -9.7%, while Year to date Blue Chip Index decreased -3.4%. Out of the 171 counters traded today, 52 companies declined while 41 companies closed higher.
