Immune booster ‘Jeewaayu Prathijeewaka’ launched

With the objective of boosting immunity of people to fight against Covid-19 and other diseases, ‘Jeewaayu Prathijeewaka’ produced with local Ayurveda indigenes were introduced.

“When Sri Lanka suffered from the global pandemic, Covid-19 in March 2020 and the country was locked down, ‘The Jeewaayu Foundation’ identified the need of enhancing the immunity of people, as a matter of urgency. Following a discussion held with an indigenous ‘hela’ medicine practitioners, the Foundation took measures to produce this immunity boosting medicine, Jeewaayu Prathijeewakaya using a combination of local herbs and ingredients also with the consent of the Department of Ayurveda,” said Chairman, Jeewaayu (Pvt.) Ltd, Rajeeva Malalasuriya.

“It is a known fact that the local indigenes treatment has taken root in society for centuries and on certain occasions even surpassed the Western system of medicine. As of now, even health sectors are informing people to use local ayurvedic prescriptions to boost immunity and prevent contracting the Covid-19 virus.”

During the first phase of production of ‘Jeewaayu Prathijeewaka’ various organizations and individuals voluntarily came forward to sponsor this initiative by providing of raw materials and other assistance since they saw the importance of creating a timely product of this nature.”

‘The Jeewaayu Foundation’ then decided to distribute more than 350,000 units of medicine to over 250 temples and other individuals throughout the country free of charge to free. ‘Jeewaayu Prathijeewaka’ was also provided free to the Archbishop’s House and clergy of Mayurapathi Kovil and of places of other worship of religions.

In addition based on requests made from heads of employment organizations, this medicine was distributed to many businesses across the country also free of charge.

The medicine has been given to employees at the Bandaranaike International Airport, officers of both state and private banks and staff of local government institutions and even to aborigines of Dambana.

Due to these initiatives there is a high demand for ‘Jeewaayu Prathijeewaka’ and we have now commercially produced this from our factory in Kurunegala and introduced it for marketing. The launching took place from the Gangarama Temple premises in Hunupitiya under the blessings of the Venerable Maha Sangha.

This medicine (Thaalisadee Powder) is prepared according to the Sri Lankan Ayurvedic Medicinal Pharmacopeia at Sukhee Deegaayu Factory and is approved by the Department of Ayurveda. Its ingredients include cinnamon, pepper, dry ginger, thippilli, cardamom, una kapuru, thalis pathuru and sukiri.

This unique medicinal drink enhances the user’s immunity and is a cleanser which has anti-inflammatory properties and relieves lung related ailments such as cough, phlegm, asthma and pneumonia as well as fever.
