
A two-day ‘Business Exhibition -2020’ on promoting small and medium entrepreneurs and promoting social cohesion among the communities in the Ampara district, was held at the Nintavur Ashraff Square premises recently.
The Group Action for Social Order (GAFSO) Project Director A.J.Kamil Imdad presided over the function. Ampara District Secretary D.M.L.Bandaranayakke graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Ampara Additional District Secretary A.M.Abdul Latheef, Ampara District Senior Superintendent of Police Jayantha Rathnayake and the Asia Foundation Deputy Country Representative Johaan Rebord were the Guests of Honour. Karathivu Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Chairman K.Jeyasiril and Nintavur, Government Ayurvedic Research (NCD) Hospital Director Dr.K.L.M.Nagfer were the special Guests on this occasion. On the second day programme, Sammanthurai Divisional Secretary S.L.M.Haniffa and Nintavur Divisional Secretary were present as Guests on this occasion.
Stalls were managed by small and medium entrepreneurs from all three communities of the Ampara district. Locally made food items, clothes and fabric, pottery products, toys items, horticulture flower plants, organic manure used for growing vegetables, milk products and household goods were exhibited.
It was a great occasion to display co-existence of all the communities. Cultural events depicting cohesion too took place and the participants were awarded certificates. Public in big numbers thronged the streets of Nintavur to view the exhibition.
