The Business Chamber of Commerce, the North Colombo based Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) offers its sincere congratulations on the historic electoral victory of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party.
That victory is a clear reflection of the faith the mass of our citizens have in the Government that it is capable of restoring the nation economically.
We, of the private sector too, were deeply impressed by the way President Gotabaya Rajapaksa galvanized all relevant sectors to overcome the COVID – 19 pandemic.
Hopefully in the same manner he will bring together all resources to enable our economy to once again stabilize itself. This task of course will not be easy. The key and vital sectors of the economy like exports, manufactures, industry, tourism and foreign employment which were severely debilitated will require the goodwill and support of all to overcome the crisis that followed. One of the declared objectives of a Chamber of Commerce is to act as a link or conduit with the private enterprises, it represents on the one hand and the State on the other, to enable the former to be a part of the overall development process. At the present time such a role is particularly important and we aim to do justice to achieve that objective. While we reiterate our good wishes to the new government we sincerely wish them the very best in reaching its goals of economic revival of the country.
