Previous Govt delayed Port City project - Priyath

People would have been living and offices functioning in Colombo Port City if the previous government did not arbitrary block the construction of the project former Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman and Secretary to the Ministry of Urban Development Priyath Bandu Wickrama said.

He said that the ‘foolish and stubborn’ decisions of the previous government which looked at all the previous Mahinda Rajapaksa administration projects, negatively, delayed the Port City by three years. “If it went on schedule, today we could have see a new ‘city line’ at the Prot city.

Wickrama said that previous administrators even went to the extent of removing the Foundation stone laid by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2017. “We will not bring it back and place it where it was originally rooted.”
